Singing your true nature

Hello, my name is Nicky and I love to sing in nature! I teach singing, work as a Voice Sound Therapist and work as a musician with my husband Pete in our duo Little Oberon and Essence of place. Together we compose music in nature using guitar and voice to express and capture the feeling and essence of a place. I have been teaching singing for over thirty years and have worked with all sorts of people: young men and women in detention centres, the elderly, people with special needs, children and adults. Through this I’ve discovered how therapeutic singing is and how a lot of people love singing but are afraid to sing. Working with music and especially the voice is a very powerful transformative experience for people. I have a Diploma in Voice Sound Therapy and Holistic voice therapy with the British Academy of Sound Therapy, BAST. This method covers a wide range of interactive exercises, fun vocal warm ups and games, vocal improvisation and expression, toning through the chakras, exercises to release resistance and breathing exercises, as well as passive activities such as a Voice Sound Bath. I teach expressive vocal exercises to help process thoughts and emotions through sound and teach how to work at a deeper level with the voice, breath and movement to improve health and wellbeing. Ive presented at the Melbourne Mind Body Spirit festival, the International Bush Adventure Therapy conference Sydney, and a variety of retreats and venues, as well as regularly running workshops in our community. As a Voice Sound Therapist I facilitate both group workshops and one on one sessions for clients.

I would like to acknowledge the Boon Wurrung/Bunurong people who are the traditional custodians of the land on which we live, love and create, and pay our respect to Elders past present and emerging.
